A month later, in January 2021, a member of Michael’s band reportedly teased what was to come when he tweeted, “Today is a big day for 5SOS,” without giving further details. Luke, Calum, Ashton and Michael rarely post on social media amid the coronavirus pandemic, and that could be why. Although the four have yet to release new music, they celebrated their nine-year anniversary as a group on December 3, 2020.
“It’s hard to believe we’ve been together as a band for almost ten years,” 5SOS wrote on the group’s Instagram account. “Whether you’re a new fan or have been with us since the beginning, thank you for being a part of this incredible journey with us.”

In addition to his album release, Ashton told fans that he recorded his entire debut album at home during the coronavirus pandemic. Luke, for his part, also told fans that he was “surprised by the studio” at home at work. Apparently, these guys have been very busy during quarantine.

Australian pop rock group 5 Seconds of Summer, commonly abbreviated as 5SOS, shocked fans at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands on Sunday night after one of its members left the stage mid-show, interrupting their performance.
The band took the stage at 20:40. Sunday, followed by a performance by English indie rock band Pale Waves. However, after a few songs, drummer Ashton Irvine, 27, one of the band’s four members, was kicked off the stage mid-show.
5SOS released a statement via an Instagram story on Monday afternoon, confirming that Irwin was indeed taken to a local hospital where he is being treated for heat stroke. “As you may have heard, yesterday’s show ended early due to a medical incident during the show,” the statement read. “After developing physical symptoms, Ashton was taken to a local hospital for test results and physical examination. Ashton was reported to experience severe fatigue as a result.”

The team said Irwin is doing well and recovering well. “We apologize to all fans who attended the canceled show,” the statement said, advising ticket holders to check email for updates as more information is received.
In a later update, the band revealed that, following medical advice, they have postponed their Tuesday show in Rogers, Arkansas until July 26. This show will now be the last show of their North American tour. “We are very sorry to disturb your plans, but we promise those who are still able, we will put on the show of your life,” they wrote.

Irwin posted an update on his condition on Twitter, saying he was taking care of himself and resting. “I had a migraine caused by fatigue and extreme heat on stage, which caused me to lose my vision and gave me stroke symptoms on the left side of my body,” he wrote. “So the decision was made to end the show there.”
Irvine said he “brought tears to the ambulance” because he felt he had let his fans down. It’s always amazing to play an energetic show in whatever environment we’re thrown into. Unfortunately, this time my body couldn’t take it because of the heat,” he wrote.

“I feel so loved and cared for by my brothers, crew and all of you,” Irwin continued. “That’s the price a dehydrated drummer pays when he takes on the Texas heat. However, Ashley Gravoie, director of public relations and education for the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, announced in an emailed statement Tuesday that the Woodlands concert will not be postponed and tickets will be refunded.
“Unfortunately, due to a medical emergency involving the band, the 5 Seconds of Summer Take My Hands tour on June 26, 2022 at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion has ended early,” the statement read. “The band has announced that the show will be canceled and will not be rescheduled.”

Videos posted online by fans show the moment a staff member announced the termination. “Unfortunately, the show cannot go on tonight,” he said. “Book your tickets. We will contact you shortly with more information.” In the video, you can hear shocked fans screaming and cursing in response.
Some fans said they saw an ambulance on the way out. A video shows a crew member walking up to Irwin with what appears to be an oxygen tank. The Lone Star State has been plagued by heat waves throughout June. The temperature in The Woodlands topped 97 degrees on Sunday.
