Celtics Summer League Roster 2023 – The Celtics’ 2022 Summer League roster continues to take shape, with plenty of intriguing names to keep fans interested as the team heads to Vegas without a first-round pick.

Bohn, a former Tennessee quarterback along with Grant Williams, is a competitive and athletic linebacker. He hasn’t shown much as an NBA shooter, but he plays hard overseas and looks good after playing in 24 games over two NBA seasons. Bohn is the perfect addition to the Summer League, a 24-year-old former NCAA champion looking to rejoin the league after his first taste of professional basketball.

Williams has had an amazing college career and wasn’t great last season at Purdue, but he’s a good guard, a good shooter and a passer like a big man (probably the main reason the Celtics are looking at him). Williams will have to stand out on the Celtics roster, but he is an interesting player.

Kabengele — 6-foot-4 — hit the lottery before the 2019 NBA draft, but slipped in the first round. After a year and a half with the Clippers, Kabengele was traded to the Kings, who waived him. He signed a multi-year deal with the Cavaliers, but played just 16 games. Before the draft, he was projected as a potential point guard, but he has yet to materialize in the NBA. He spent last season in the G League, where he shot 44% from three-point range and averaged 17.5 points, 9.3 rebounds and one block per game.

It’s the easiest sell for fans hoping to see someone since Davison was the only addition the Celtics made on draft night. He is an explosive athlete as a 6-foot-2 guard with a long wingspan and plenty of potential. His shot is still long but he has shown as a passer with good touch as a finisher. “His athleticism, youth and energy, young as a freshman and great explosion,” Ime Udoka said last week. “I’m so happy for him that he’s so late in the draft.”

Begarin — last year’s draft pick and second-round pick — has impressive size for a guard and shows promise as a potentially versatile and strong defender. Last season, he averaged 11.1 points and 4.2 rebounds in Paris Basketball.

Austin Ainge told The Globe: “Juhan has made a big improvement on both sides of the ball. It’s been a big jump for him playing with a lot of good players every night.” “It was great for him to be pushed like that.”

Hauser may have the most secure spot on the Summer League roster. The Celtics have needed more 3-point shooting for most of the season, and Hauser becoming a rotation player is probably the easiest way to add reliable floor spacing off the bench. Hauser’s biggest goal should be to show that he can stay on the floor defensively, as his shooting should be relatively easy.

Fitts has become a household name (at least in the Celtics name) thanks to his celebrations on the bench all season, but there’s meat to his game. He’s a great shooter with great size and athleticism to watch in an environment where he can really shine. If not, Fitts may get another chance on the roster, as the Celtics have turned their season around after switching energy, and Fitts provides a nice streak without limits.

Morgan returned to the NBA last year before signing a pair of 10-day deals and eventually a team option deal for the 2022-23 season. He appeared in just one regular season game, but played in nine dump-in games during the playoffs.

Morgan’s versatility is a strong point, but like so many others, he will have to stand out in a crowded field to make the Celtics’ final roster.

One of the Celtics’ two-way players, Thomas stayed with the team throughout the playoffs. The athletic 6-foot-6 guard played in 12 regular season games for the Celtics and averaged 14.5 points on 40 percent shooting for the Maine League Celtics. Thomas could be a solid candidate for another two-way contract if he excels in Vegas: The roster may be crowded, but he had little chance to prove himself after a spectacular season last year.

Ryan’s story might be one of the most interesting on last year’s list. According to MassLive’s Souichi Terada, last year Ryan drove DoorDash while training and fishing for his basketball career. Ultimately, his three-point shooting helped him sign a two-way deal with the Celtics. Ryan averaged 19.4 points and shot 40 percent from 3-point range against the Celtics. The Celtics have some hotshot prospects on their Summer League roster, but Ryan could do himself a favor if he heats up in Vegas.

It is worth noting that the Celtics draft does not take place in Las Vegas. He is said to have stated that he is unlikely to make the list and has decided to spend more time with his Serbia team at international level. Madar averaged 14 points, 3 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 17 games.

As the NBA returns to normal during the pandemic, another offseason is returning in the form of Summer League. The Celtics announced their roster for the trip to Las Vegas on Tuesday, which includes four returning players. The roster took a new position with the addition of announced C’s Juhan Begarin, their 2021 second-round pick.

The quartet of Romeo Langford, Aaron Nesmith, Payton Pritchard and Carsen Edwards will be in Vegas for minutes to up their game. Other notable additions include 2020 second-round pick Yam Madar and two-way signee Sam Hauser. Begarin is another name to look out for. The team is coached by assistant C.Joe Mazzulla while first-year head coach Ime Udoka is busy with USA Basketball in Tokyo.
