Dance Summer Intensives 2023 – Led by Artistic Director Stephen Mills, Associate Artistic Director Michelle Martin, and talented instructors, you’ll learn what it takes to succeed in your career through this traditional but fun approach.

The Austin Ballet Senior Summer Intensive Program offers two, three or one, six-week intensives for talented students between the ages of 11-22. Members of Ballet Austin II, the Ballet Austin Apprenticeship Program and Second Company, and the Ballet Austin Butler Fellowship Program are also eligible for selection through the Senior Summer Program. Ballet Austin’s Junior Summer Intensive program offers a two-week training session for talented students ages 9-13.

Ballet Austin’s Senior Summer Intensive Program offers two 3- or 6-week training sessions for talented students between the ages of 11-22.

Brenau Summer Dance Intensive

The Summer Intensive program is an experience that will give students a better understanding of the art of ballet and how to use it effectively. Our Professionals in Residence, visiting teachers from the Austin Ballet company, provide guidance, inspiration and attention to detail. In addition to Ballet, Principles, Variety, Male Class, and Repertoire, students study with highly qualified teachers in Modern, Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Drama.

High school students will participate in classroom placement. Each student is evaluated and placed into one of six intensive learning areas. Student evaluations continue during the first days of each term. Action is at the discretion of the administration and will be final.

Summer Intensive 2023 — Coomer Ballet Conservatory

A limited number of scholarships are awarded each year to qualified students. Once your test is complete and approved, you can send an email to request a scholarship. Please do not call about the Scholarship. Applications will be submitted by email request only.

Dance Summer Intensives 2023

St., a dormitory located near the (West Campus) campus of the University of Texas, about two miles north of the Ballet Austin studios. Assistants are hired and trained by Ballet Austin and live in the halls with the students. Escorts hired by Ballet Austin go through a rigorous process of applying, providing references, and passing background and driving checks. The Butler Fellowship Program serves as Ballet Austin’s training program. All Butler Fellowship positions are fully funded, allowing these 15 exceptional dancers to train at Ballet Austin for free. Currently, 30% of Ballet Austin’s leadership positions are held by graduates of the Butler Fellowship Program.

Summer Intensive Juniors

Butler Fellows are selected through a national audition process and call Austin home to participate in this unique opportunity. Designed for high school dancers, the Butler Fellowship Program offers innovative learning opportunities for professional dancers. It connects directly to the ‘arc’ of Ballet Austin, with all the art classes taught by Artistic Director Stephen Mills, Assistant Technical Director Michelle Martin and Rehearsal Director Christopher Swaim.

Ballet Austin II, founded in 1999, is an educational program and second company of Ballet Austin. Currently, 80% of Ballet Austin company positions are filled by Ballet Austin II graduates.

Ballet Austin II dancers are selected through a national audition process and move to Austin to participate in this unique opportunity. They partner with a large company to produce large scale productions and present their own plays in Austin and on tour across the country. To date, 109 Ballet Austin II and Butler Fellowship Program graduates have signed contracts with more than 42 companies nationwide, including Ballet Austin, Dayton Ballet, Nashville Ballet, Boston Ballet, Hubbard Street 2, Nevada Ballet Theatre, Sacramento Ballet, Ballet Pensacola. , Nai-Ni Chen, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, Ballet Memphis, Spectrum/Donald Byrd, Wideman/Davis Dance, Alabama Ballet, Thang Dao Dance, Northwest Dance Project, DanceWorks Chicago and Louisville Ballet. The 2023 offerings include the Advanced Ballet Program, which runs from June 26-July 28, and the Contemporary Intensive Program, which runs from July 17-28. In both programs, students participate in daily classes with our renowned instructors and benefit from rigorous training that includes exposure to GRB company dancers and guest instructors. In the 2023 Summer Ballet Intensive, students will enjoy learning with guests and students from the Grand Rapids Ballet School, developing their skills and abilities. Students are trained in ballet, modern, pointe, repertoire and more. Students also gain valuable tools through specialized classes in Progressing Ballet Technique®, jazz, cardio training, and more.

Students will have the opportunity to practice at the end of the summer. This opportunity is open to anyone who has graduated at least two weeks ago.

Seniors in the program can choose to participate between 1 and 5 weeks of extension. To participate in the summer show, dancers must register for a minimum of 4 & 5 weeks.

*Please note that the main classes will end at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, because of the holiday. Courses coming in week 2 only will be reduced by $40 accordingly.

Senior Intensive Ballet students will take four to five classes a day Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., including Technique, Pointe, Men, Variations, Contemporary, Jazz, Repertoire, Leaps/Leaps, conditioning/stretching and progressive ballet technique.

Spring Ballet 2023 is a comprehensive program designed specifically for young dancers. Delivered in a fun and stimulating environment, students will receive individual attention and cultural training to develop their artistic skills, in a variety of dance and contemporary styles.

Junior Intensive Ballet students will take two or three classes a day Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. OR 1:30-4:30 p.m. including Art, Contemporary, Twists/Jump, Stretching, Conditioning, Jazz and Repertoire.
