Fsu Spring Break 2023 – CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Spring break is a South Florida institution, but two South Florida colleges won’t have it in 2021.

The University of Miami and Florida International University announced they are canceling the annual postponement due to safety risks related to the spread of COVID-19, as students will travel to and from campus.

The University of Florida and Florida State University previously announced they would also cancel spring break this school year.

Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Sally McRorie announced the change in a letter to students, faculty and staff.

Last week, FAMU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Maurice Edington said FAMU would adjust its schedule to FSU and cancel spring break.

McRorie also noted that the spring semester still begins on Jan. 6, but the first three days of classes will be held remotely. With spring break canceled, the semester will end on Friday, April 23, or a week earlier than originally planned.

“The university continues to work to limit the spread of COVID-19, and we believe these adjustments will reduce the chance of members of the campus community returning with the virus after traveling during spring break,” McRorie said.

The spring semester ends on April 23rd, with the last day of class on April 16th. Exam week is from 19 to 23 April.

Due to the joint operation of the FAMU and FSU Colleges of Engineering, the Florida A&M University calendar will mirror the FSU calendar.

Edington also said the spring break cancellation would only affect FAMU’s main campus, not FAMU’s Orlando Law School, which operates on a different schedule.
