Isu Spring Break 2023 – Alternative Spring Break (ASB) is a one-week service opportunity during the University’s Spring Break where participants travel to meet a need in the community. Since it became a student organization in 2000, almost 1,000 students have participated in ASB.
Participants explore the roots of social issues addressed through pre-trip education and reflection during the trip. Students met with their groups about five times before their departure in March and twice after the trip. Past participants have helped victims of Hurricane Katrina by working with KaTREEna in New Orleans, building homes with Habitat for Humanity in Georgia, serving people leaving the Texas prison system, cleaning up the Mississippi River with land and living water, and more.

Students will also enjoy a free day during the trip to enjoy the host city or city area they are passing through. This structure allows students to understand their communities and citizens on a deeper level for lasting impact!

The bus group has a total of 45 participants, with six student leaders and three staff travel advisors.
Participants learn about compassion and service that cannot be taught in the classroom alone, as well as the importance of serving individuals, families and communities in need. Students will connect with other participants and make new relationships from attending Reveal to find out what they are doing.
