Selected courses offer the possibility to join the waiting list of a closed section. When a seat opens up, an email is generated and sent to your MTMail account, along with a deadline to log into Pipeline and add the class to your schedule. If the period ends and you have not registered in the offered section, the opportunity is removed and the place is offered to the next person on the waiting list.

After submitting your changes, your waitlist class will appear on your screen as shown below. You are NOT ENROLLED in the class and will not see this class on your schedule. This simply shows that you are on the waiting list and that you will return to this page if you are offered a place to register for the course.

If you are notified that a seat is available, log into Pipeline within the 12-hour window to register for the class. To do this, change the status of the class in the “Action” section to “Registered Online”. Click the “Submit Changes” button to process the added class, making sure to remove classes with timing conflicts as you do so.

In the example below, you can identify classes with the waitlist option in the “WL Cap” tab in the middle of the “Find Classes” feature. The “WL Act” category lets you know how many people are on the waiting list and the “WL Rem” tells you if there are any spots left on the waiting list. If the “WL Cap” figure is set to zero, waitlisting is not an option for that course.

Selection of the waitlist option will be available one day prior to the first “purge” for the fall and spring semesters. All those who have paid or confirmed will be on the waiting list to be given priority in the cleaning of the schedules for places that become available. Those notified of open spots will have until the next morning to add classes, then there will be no waiting lists for the semester. Please note that the summer semester waitlist will be available until the Thursday before the start of each semester, and waitlists for that semester will be cleared on the Friday before each semester begins.
