Ncat Academic Calendar Fall 2023 – Greensboro, NH (May 18, 2020) – North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University leaders today released the academic calendar for the fall 2020 semester, making important changes to ensure the health of students, faculty and staff and reduce community transmission. The coronavirus pandemic will spread across the country in the coming months.
Classes – in person and online – begin Wednesday, August 19. Virtual orientation sessions for new students will be held this summer, and in-person sessions are scheduled to begin on August 10, preparing materials that cannot be effectively processed through online orientation modules.

Most importantly, Fall Break and the usual two-day school day were canceled to end on Thanksgiving and allow students to return home for the end of the year. Past exams will be taken online on the regular schedule in December, and current students will return in January for Spring 2021.

The launch is scheduled for Saturday, December 12, with the assumption that a private ceremony will be possible at that time. As the year progresses, college leaders will closely monitor environmental conditions to make a final decision on both ceremonies, as well as an individual commencement date for the spring class, even if the ceremony is canceled.
Two major annual fall meetings for A&T staff will be held as planned: New Faculty Orientation on Wednesday, August 12 and Professional Development Day on Thursday, August 13, which will be presented in real time.

North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and Cone Health today signed a memorandum of understanding that will strengthen their collaboration in clinical education, research and strategic workforce development.
The College of Education offers a teacher training program, preparing 200 male students for teaching careers.
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University will be the first of 10 historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) to host a new George Hofstetter Lecture Series on black activism and creativity. The course series aims to explore topics that “inspire students and faculty to build on a foundation of disruptive innovation and social justice.” The event will take place on Thursday, March 2 at 6:00 p.m. in the Knee Ballroom of the A&T Student Center.

“I’m from Wilmington, MA, and graduated from the John R. and Kathy R. Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences at North Carolina A&T and UNC Greensboro with a Master of Social Work (JMSW) program. . . . first-generation college student, devoted family member and with a desire to improve the quality of life in foreign communities, I chose social work.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Education, I realized I was called to social work and applied to the JMSW program. During my time in the program, I achieved many accomplishments, such as being selected as one of 45 MSW students nationally for the Society for Minority Excellence in Social Work Education.
“My time at A&T has been nothing short of amazing. The JMSW program has prepared me and my colleagues to fight for equality and instilled in us the ability to adapt and care about a changing environment. Who we serve. I. Erica Quesada Gomis, who graduated in May 2022 from San Jose, Costa Rica, earned a double major in Finance and Accounting as an Aggie athlete. Finished his college bowling career as a National Tenpin Coaches Association Academic All-American and a member of the 2021 and 2022 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship winning and tournament teams. Bowling NCAA Championship for the second year in a row.
“I decided to study finance because I’ve always been interested in analysis, forecasting and investing. However, after taking accounting courses, everything clicked and I decided to double major in finance and accounting.

“I love the Willie E. Dees College of Business and Economics, the connections you make with faculty and fellow students, and those connections allow you to improve and take on new challenges. When I didn’t know how to do accounting, I turned to Education, and the faculty encouraged me to double major.” Other students then encouraged me to pursue professional opportunities such as centers, development programs, and honoring communities.
“All in all, they made me choose A&T and they are the people I will never forget my four years with. This summer I will complete my second internship at Deloitte’s audit and assurance department, and I am interested in pursuing a career in auditing. In the fall, I will continue my studies and take the 150 to take the CPA exams. I will be pursuing my master’s degree in accounting to prepare my loan application.
“My advice to current and future students is to take advantage of the opportunities at university because most of my opportunities have come from there. I would also encourage other students to hang out with your friends because they will give you an opportunity to improve and it is very possible to work with them in the future.

Correggio Piggler has known since high school that he wanted to attend North Carolina A&T after an informative campus visit with his older sisters and an educational professor. He said he wanted to become an orthopedic surgeon in high school after a sports injury that required hospitalization.
As a pre-med biology student in the College of Science and Technology, Correggio knew her next step: attending George Washington University School of Medicine on a full scholarship.
While at A&T, Correggio Lewis and Elizabeth Dowdy Fellow, Undergraduate Researcher, Robert H. Working with Newman, Ph.D. worked on cellular signaling pathways, and won a Chancellor’s Award this spring.
