Nku Spring Break 2023 – March 1, 2023 – Although Northern Kentucky University students will be out of class for spring break on Monday, March 6, the Highland Heights campus will still be buzzing with student activity as nearly 800 of the area’s brightest high school students participate in DreamFest , an annual day of learning and enrichment.
This year’s event marks the 38th season of Dreamfest, which will once again host students from 11 local public schools in Northern Kentucky. The event is organized by the Northern Kentucky Association of Gifted Educators (NKAGE) in partnership with its Institute for Talent Development and Gifted Research.

“Since its inception, DreamFest has provided gifted students from our area with the opportunity to engage with potential peers while participating in enrichment activities and thought-provoking dialogue,” said Heather Hicks, NKAGE President and Gifted and Talented Coordinator at Boone County Schools. . . , he said. “This is an event our students look forward to every year, and they appreciate the professionals who bring their expertise.”

On the main stage, DreamFest hosts the Kentucky Science Center, Ion Jones and the Chemistry Palace. Students will join the adventure as Ions identify elements, demonstrate chemical reactions and analyze chemistry concepts. Students will explore 10 workstations designed to show how chemistry permeates all areas of life and how many careers involve chemistry. After creating their own chemical reactions, students will walk away with more STEM knowledge, using forensic science to solve a mystery and using pH to distinguish between four similar liquids.
Students will also participate in interactive workshops that explore critical and creative thinking in content ranging from language arts and math to art and leadership. Throughout the day, local professionals and teachers will volunteer their time to offer 20 unique workshops.
DreamFest began in the mid-1980s with an emphasis on performing arts. Since then, the event has taken many forms, but he has always called it home.

Students who qualify for financial aid can apply for housing payments after paying their financial aid. The student and/or their parents/legal guardians will be responsible for the balance of the University’s balance before they move into the residence.
Students who live outside the freshman-exempt area, who do not live with a parent or legal guardian, and who are under 21 years of age by September 1 of the academic year must live in the University Residence for the first academic year. During winter break, students living in Norse Hall, Callahan Hall, and University Suites are allowed to stay on campus during winter break. Students living in North Hall and University Suites must pay extra to stay on campus during winter break. Fees for winter break will be determined by the NCU Board and communicated to students upon approval.
All other students must vacate the residence and make alternative arrangements during winter break.
Finding The Greatest Value Among Kentucky Colleges
Based on student feedback, beginning in the 2023-2024 academic year, University Housing will convert dormitories in Norse Hall into one-bedroom apartments. This means that the Norse Hall One room will have a new room rate. Accommodation rates are subject to approval by the NCU Board of Registrars.
Residents must secure renters insurance to live on campus. NKU has a partnership with GradGuard where residential students can purchase renters insurance at a low cost.
