Noaa Issues Their Winter Forecast For 2022 23
Eastern Washington, northern Idaho and western Montana and the western Midwest are in the “above chance” zone, meaning more rain is expected.
Most of the central part of the country falls into the “Equal Chance” category, meaning that the probability of average, above average or below average rainfall is the same.
The southern half of the United States, including California, Arizona, and New Mexico, is in the “simple” zone, meaning it gets less rain.

However, remember that 3-6 month predictions are worthless, so don’t get excited or nervous about where your favorite areas fall on the chart.
A strong El Niño or La Niña (which refers to warming waters in the central Pacific) can help predict snowfall this winter.
