During our spring training trip last year, Charlie Manuel attended one of our events for a meet-and-greet and question-and-answer session. Many people said it was one of the highlights of the trip and Charlie loved it too. Charlie Manuel will be back for our 2023 Spring Training Tour!!! Built in 2004, BayCare Ballpark has excellent facilities and fans can watch the action from almost any vantage point. It has 7,300 fixed seats, plus more than 1,500 additional grass berm seats outside. In addition to the site’s abundant palm trees and Spanish Mediterranean architecture, behind the left field wall is a full-service bar known as the Tiki Pavilion. The average high temperature in Toronto in February reaches 33 degrees, making the Blue Jays’ annual spring training at TD Ballpark in Dunedin all the more appealing to the team’s players for a bit of discomfort from the Florida sun. The American League team has held its preseason in this small town north of Clearwater since 1977. Praised for its laid-back atmosphere (it’s nestled among small businesses and homes a few blocks from downtown), the field is ranked by Sports Illustrated as one of the top five places to watch a spring training game. For an added touch of charm, Beer Guy Chad had fans chanting “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” from the top of the dugout during the seventh inning.
Stadium food isn’t your standard beer and bagel fare. According to St. Pete’s/Clearwater’s identity as a craft beer mecca, there’s a Craft Beer Dugout at third base. A large tent grill behind home plate serves pulled pork sandwiches and baked beans.

The other nine major league teams, called the Grapefruit League, played their spring games in St. Pete/Clearwater. The legendary New York Yankees call Tampa home for the spring training season. The Atlanta Braves take the field in North Harbor, south of Sarasota. Head to Lakeland to watch the Detroit Tigers practice or West Palm Beach to watch the Houston Astros.
The 2018 World Series champion Boston Red Sox and 1991 champion Minnesota Twins practice in Fort Myers, while the Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburgh Pirates play ball south on I-75 in Sarasota and Bradenton.
