Scc Summer Classes 2023 – Choosing only one job for the rest of your life is not realistic. At summer career camp, participants learn to plan a dynamic career that adapts as you change throughout life.
The week-long program is designed for students in grades 10, 11 and 12 who want to start their careers. This includes students taking a gap year or graduating after 12th grade.

The fee is paid upon registration at the camp. Participants are expected to pay incidental expenses such as transportation to and from campus each day; However, expenses that are part of the event curriculum, such as some snacks, two lunches, and bus tickets to the dance activity, are included in the registration fee. Navigating the unexpected and taking small action steps. Students participating in the camp are not expected to choose a job at the end of the week. We believe that operations are significantly affected by unforeseen events and factors beyond our control and our responses to them. With this degree of uncertainty, it can be difficult to plan the work in the long term. Instead, we hope students will be able to identify three to five short-term next steps they can take to advance their careers. Taking short-term actions can help students adapt and adjust their changing preferences based on new experiences and opportunities they encounter.
Learning about and exploring career options Students won’t learn how to write a resume or apply for a job. Although this is an important part of the job search process, the camp is intended to help students take the first steps to learn about and explore careers. If students are interested in learning how to write a resume or apply for a job, we offer appointment services encouraged through the Summer Job Camp.
Identifying Preferences and Interests Students will not take achievement and/or personality tests to determine which career(s) they should pursue. Research shows that natural experiments are ineffective in helping us make career choices because our likes and preferences can change over time as we experience new things. . Instead, students will learn skills and resources to guide their careers that they can use throughout their lives. Career management is a lifelong process, and by learning through experience and reflecting on their likes and dislikes, students will be able to grow from their experiences and find more fulfillment in their career Northwest-Shoals Community College (NW-SCC) Catalog / The Student Handbook is Now digital!
