Shsu Spring Break 2023 – The Sam Houston State University Small Business Development Center (SHSU SBDC) is committed to helping small businesses start, grow, expand, and succeed. The SHSU SBDC is a member of the University of Houston Texas Gulf Coast SBDC network, providing affordable business consulting, education, and training for current and prospective small business owners.
The SHSU SBDC has expanded to now provide convenient locations in The Woodlands and Huntsville serving Montgomery, Walker, San Jacinto, Madison, and Leon counties. The SHSU Woodlands Center is located at 3380 College Park Dr. Suite 101 at The Woodlands, Texas.

SHSU SBDC consultants provide consulting services in business planning, operations, finance, accounting, loan proposals, access to finance, financial analysis, sales, marketing, strategic planning, market research, government procurement and international trade.
Entrepreneurs also have access to private training and webinars on a variety of topics: SBA crisis assistance, food and restaurant, social media, marketing, technology, credit, and much more. Each training session is taught by industry experts and offers quick fixes and tips to help entrepreneurs take their business to the next level.

In a press release, the school said it’s time to unveil a new look and brand for the new decade, keeping the tradition of the “SH” logo with paws. The athletic department also unveiled a new Sammy mascot logo, inspired by the throwbacks of the program’s early days.

“I am excited to help introduce a new look and identity to our Bearkat athletes, fans, coaches and alumni,” said SHSU athletics director Bobby Williams in a press release. “I would like to thank Russell Martinez and our remote collaborators for their hard work on this project and the expertise of our SMB staff to guide us through this process. It would not have been possible without the vision of Dr. Dana Hoyt and everyone involved I think at Sam Houston State we have done something for everyone we deal with, and we can be proud of that.
According to the press release, the project has been working with SME Branding, a creative institute of Learfield/IMG College, since 2018. As of 2019, SMBs reviewed SHSU’s past branding, branding, videos, images, and current athletes and marketers.
“We are very proud to help the Bearkats advance in Division I athletics,” said Conner O’Flaherty, Executive Director of SME. “From the beginning of this project, the goal was to create a modern identity that supported the core values and historic culture upon which the Bearkats brand was built.”

The press release stated that the color palette is changing with a new logo featuring an orange and white main scheme. Uniforms and shirts can also have black and gray trim. Spring break week, March 12-16, eases academic demands and gives students time to travel.
Sam Houston State University’s student legal and mediation services are hosting a “spring break” to educate about potential threats during spring break. The event will take place on Wednesday, March 7 from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm at Kat Klub.
“Many students will be traveling during spring break, and we want students to be aware of some of the common issues they may encounter,” says Gene Roberts, director of the Office of Legal Services and Student Mediation. “We create a fun atmosphere for students where they can learn.”

Their presentation will educate students about their rights and responsibilities regarding issues they may face during spring break: identity theft, dealing with law enforcement, traffic enforcement, and alcohol problems.
“It’s important to know your rights and use them correctly. This information should be released before students leave for spring break,” Roberts said. “For example, some people want to use students to steal information.”
