The approved calendar is one of two options presented to employees and the community for input in a survey that received feedback from more than 1,700 people.
Dumas Isd 2022 2023 Calendar
Both calendar options prioritized maximizing student learning, incorporating teacher professional development, and including parent conference days throughout the year. Both options include two half-day lessons to allow for parent-teacher conferences and an approved calendar that sets aside two full days on November 7 and February 17. In addition, the calendar includes an autumn holiday on 10 October and a new circuit holiday in June on 19 June. The approved calendar allows for an extra holiday on November 8, Election Day.
According to the approved calendar, winter break begins with students after half-day classes on December 16 and ends with a return to school on Thursday, January 5. Spring Break begins after half-day classes in March. Lessons continue on Monday 10 and 20 March.
ISD’s Spring Advisory Committee on Education (ACE), comprised of staff and faculty, offered input and guidance before the two calendar designs were presented to the public as part of a community survey. Both options meet all state instructional time requirements, including 174 days with 440 instructional minutes per day, supplemented as needed.
