The Knights need just three non-conference games once in the Big 12 conference starting next season, one less than needed in the AAC.
Although the Big 12 has an extra conference game, one of the three non-conference games must be against a Power Five opponent.
By adding Villanova, UCF will not meet that requirement. The Knights have received approval from the Big 12 for that to happen, a UCF spokesperson told the Orlando Sentinel on Saturday.
