On behalf of our school’s outstanding student body, I would like to welcome you to the University of Houston School of Pharmacy! Our university offers its students a superior learning environment that produces first-class pharmacists who can ably lead the pharmaceutical profession and provide better patient care wherever they may go. As a strong advocate of the excellence our school fosters, I am honored to serve you this school year as Chairman of the Board of Pharmacy. With your decision to pursue your pharmacy training at UHCOP, I can confidently assure you that the next four years will be full of formative and rich experiences that will constantly challenge you to be the best you can be.
Welcome To The University Of Hertfordshire
Although originally from Oklahoma, I had no qualms about moving to a new state because I was fortunate enough to connect with students and faculty who demonstrated an unparalleled level of professionalism and experience. This inspired me to attend UHCOP so that I could develop these qualities in myself. Over the past two years, I can confidently say that I have been able to work towards this goal and have improved significantly in the process. This faculty continually provides me with opportunities to effectively pursue my career aspirations, and I strongly believe that all UHCOP students can participate in that success. That said, as Chairman of the Board of Pharmacy, I want to continually advocate for the well-being of my peers, sharing my passion for our school and providing you with the resources to shape your path through pharmacy school.
While adapting to such a new experience can be extremely tiring, I assure you that success will come soon if you keep an open mind and fully embrace the UHCOP offering. Our school has over 20 active student organizations where you can find opportunities for leadership development, research, mentoring and more. As you begin to establish yourself in the school community, I encourage you to fully explore these opportunities so that you can do your best while pursuing your pharmacy education.
That said, I wish you the best of luck as you start this exciting new chapter in your life! The 10-campus system at the University of Hawaii is proposing to freeze undergraduate tuition for two more academic years, 2023-24 and 2024-25. But the freeze would be followed by a 2% increase in residential tuition rates on three UH campuses in 2025-26 and a 2% increase in 2026-27.

It is proposed that undergraduate and graduate tuition fees be frozen for each of the four academic years, except for the UH Mānoa William S. Richardson School of Law, which would increase by 2% in each of the three years beginning in 2024-25.
Five public meetings are scheduled beginning Nov. 15 to explain the proposal and allow students, parents, faculty, staff, and the public to provide feedback through oral and written testimonies. Feedback will be given to the Board of Regents before it acts on the proposal next year, approving, deferring or modifying what has been submitted.
The last learning steps taken by the Board of Regents were in 2016, when undergraduate resident rates increased modestly from 1% to 2% in 2018-19 and 2019-20. These increases were fully allocated to the renovation, improvement and modernization of JP’s facilities. At that time, some tuition fees were reduced, but from 2020 tuition fees were frozen.

Currently, undergraduate tuition costs $5,652 per semester at UH Mānoa, $3,836 per semester at UH Hilo and UH West O’ahu, and $1,572 per semester at UH’s seven community colleges ($131 per credit and 12 credits apply in full-time).
Based on the evidence received, management may amend the proposed schedule. Once public meetings are over, on 1 December, management will submit the learning proposal to the Board of Regents for approval, along with a summary of all evidence submitted. Regents are expected to consider the proposal in early 2023, when there will be another opportunity for the public to testify.
During the presentation of information on the proposed tuition schedule at a public meeting of the Board of Regents on October 26, the government said that it was important to maintain tuition rates for the next two academic years because the state’s economy was still improving and would progress causing problems for students and their families.

A modest increase beginning in the fall semester of 2025 was recommended in view of the rising costs of operating the 10-campus system with rising energy costs, high inflation, consideration of state tuition, and the expectation that the proposed small increase would not significantly affect . access to higher education.
The comprehensive presentation also included history of tuition increases, the official process for tuition increases including policy guidance from the Board of Trustees, historical data on state allocations and tuition, tuition rates compared to peers, projected income and expenses, and other financing. and budgetary aspects.
