Uncg Spring 2023 Calendar – As we move through the Fall 2020 semester, we are also solidifying our plans for what is to come in the Spring 2021 semester. Today, we are announcing changes to our Spring 2021 calendar. We review academic requirements and best practices for maintaining physical and mental health as you progress during the year. We use the same strategies that have worked well and also make changes based on what we’ve learned. Based on discussions with faculty, students and others in the higher education community, we decided to keep a few key principles in mind:

You can expect additional announcements on expanding our COVID-19 testing capabilities, evolving security protocols, and ongoing updates to our business. How the situation deserves it. We ask for continued patience and kindness throughout the community, abide by all community rules and standards, and remain vigilant during the remainder of this semester. Our mission is to create vibrant, valuable and safe experiences for our students, faculty, staff, alumni and visitors.

For the latest information, monitor your email regularly, visit the COVID-19 website regularly, follow our social media channels, and download the mobile app from the GoogleoriTunesapp Store to receive push notifications directly to your phone. Registration for the tour is done in person at the Outdoor Adventures Office, on the first floor of the Kaplan Center, near the natatorium. In travel, the principle of “first come, first served” applies. You must pay in full to secure your seat. You are also expected to fill out some paperwork during registration, so be prepared to spend around 15-20 minutes throughout the registration process.

Most tours are for beginners; However, there are some prerequisites that must be met before travelling. For example, kayaking in coastal and mountain waters requires soaking (the process of getting out of an overturned kayak) at the Kaplan Center Natatorium prior to kayaking. Any prerequisites will be explained during registration.

Outdoor adventure travel is people-driven and adventure-oriented, so we expect a certain level of physical exertion from all travelers. We rate the level of effort as low, medium or difficult. Your current fitness level and other physical or mental limitations should be taken into account when deciding to participate in any activity. For clarification of activities and any difficulties, do not hesitate to ask.

All overnight tours have a mandatory pre-departure meeting on the Wednesday before departure. The date and time of the meeting before departure will be provided. The goal of each meeting is to better prepare you for the experience. This includes reviewing travel policies, finalizing travel plans, negotiating meal plans, checking packing lists, and dispensing equipment. As mentioned earlier, this meeting is mandatory. Participants do not need to register for the trip if they cannot make it to the meeting. Any participant who does not show up for the meeting will be removed from the tour without refund. The Mba and bls classes of the second summer session will begin. Application deadline for graduates. May 1 (summer session i), June 1 (summer session ii) Deadline for graduates.

We offer resuscitation of adults and children, first aid and AED and CPR/AED for professional rescuers. Classes are taught in a blended learning format, with part of the course online through the American Red Cross and the final part being an in-class proficiency test at the Kaplan Center.

UNC Greensboro Outdoor Adventures is sponsoring a Wilderness First Aid course on March 25-26, 2017 at Piney Lake. The course will be led by Landmark Learning. This 16-hour course is designed to prepare you for the unexpected. It will introduce you to the care of sick or injured people who are too far from specific medical care. Lectures and classroom demonstrations are paired with realistic scenarios where mock patients will challenge you to integrate your learning. By the end of the course, you will have the knowledge, skills and ability to make good decisions in emergency situations. The course is conducted by experienced instructors. Learning takes place in classrooms and outdoors, regardless of weather conditions.
