University Of Akron Spring Break 2023 – An announcement released Friday by university President Gary Miller said the fall 2020 semester will be a mix of face-to-face and online learning. Residence halls will reopen and all rooms will be private.
The decision to reopen comes shortly after the announcement that the university plans to consolidate its courses from 11 centers to 5 to overcome a $65 million budget shortfall caused by the coronavirus.

After the university canceled face-to-face classes for the spring semester, a survey of Akron students showed widespread demand for more face-to-face meetings with professors, said Senior Vice President Joe Urgo.
Make A Difference Day
“These are very important relationships,” Urgo said. “We feel a lot of pressure from students to make face-to-face learning a reality for them whenever possible.”
The school still needs to provide more information for the fall term. It is also not known whether sporting events will resume.
“The details are still being worked out to make this possible and to what extent it will be possible,” Urgo said. “The NCAA is giving us guidance as it moves forward with its guidelines for allowing fall sports.”
Ua Reduces Tuition, Stark State To Offer Free Fall Classes
As universities across the country plan for the upcoming academic year, some schools are preparing for extensive testing. The University of California, San Diego plans to test 70 to 75 percent of its students each month.
“Now we’re talking about a lot of different types as more information is emerging about the tests and their recommended practice and frequency,” Urgo said. “So we haven’t figured that out yet. We’ll go with our best guess at this point.”
In a letter to the campus community, Kent State University also announced Friday that it plans to begin residential and face-to-face classes on the Kent campus in August.
Student Calendar Released
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated its guidelines for opening colleges and universities a day before the announcement. The revised proposals include offering online and face-to-face classes and designated areas to isolate sick students. The CDC has not tested the university. AKRON, Ohio – University of Akron President Gary L. Miller announced that classes will end at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday and switch to online education after spring break as a way to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.
Classes will not be held until March 29 to give the faculty two weeks to develop plans to conduct classes online, as well as spring break from March 23-29.
The announcement came shortly after Governor Mike DeWine recommended that in-person college classes be canceled to help prevent the spread of the virus. Ohio’s first coronavirus cases were confirmed Monday, all three in Cuyahoga County.

UA’s announcement followed similar actions by The Ohio State University, Kent State University, Case Western Reserve University and John Carroll University.
UA is also canceling all “major events” scheduled on campus until at least April 20. Dormitories will remain open and food services will be available.
“We are confident that we can provide high-quality online services to students, but we think it is wise to spend time fine-tuning these classes,” Miller said. “We know that these actions will cause a disruption to the planned processes and activities. However, this is a unique situation that forces us to adapt and work in a new way.”
After Outcry, U Of M Will Reconsider Allowing Students To Walk For Graduation

University Of Akron Shifts Spring Break, Designates Three Weeks For All Online Classes
I really like it here. The “accommodation” day produced the greatest impression. The University of Akron has this process down to a science. You have a set time, a team of student volunteers help you unload, everything is loaded into shopping carts and they help you unload to your room. It was a very quick and well organized process; other universities should try to emulate it.
I love Akron so much! I couldn’t have asked for a better first semester here. I have amazing teachers and friends. There is also a LOT to do! !
Akron is a university in a city, but it doesn’t feel like it’s in a city. It feels like home and there is a warm and friendly atmosphere. It is a good college for many.

The university has a beautiful campus that is well maintained. It seems that the students are calm and happy to be there. His staff and organizations were well organized and operated with great efficiency.
As a high school student, my classmates and professors made the transition to college classes easy and were always willing to help. The campus is also not too confusing, so I never had a problem finding my way to classes. As I walked around campus and among student organizations, I noticed that there was always some kind of activity going on, whether it was a movie night or a meditation class.
The University of Akron allows me to enjoy my time as a student on campus while teaching me what I will need in the future. Additionally, Akron has given me many clubs and organizations to participate in, so I can enjoy my time here by joining organizations that interest me. Finally, Akron has made me feel at home on campus even though I am far from home.
