LAKELAND – A staple in many homes in recent years, the new edition of the Old Farmer’s Almanac has released its annual forecast of what kind of weather Canadians can expect during the winter months.
How Did This Year’s Winter Rank?
“Most Canadians should prepare for cold weather in general, but with ‘sly cold,'” according to The Old Farmer’s Almanac.
“Snow, snow, snow…no matter how cold you say, that’s what’s in store for most Canadians this winter,” Janice Stillman, director.
. “But as an added ‘bonus’, we’re also expecting some unusual mini-freezes in various parts of the country, which will shock and awe with their intensity.”
Snow Continues Through Early Afternoon
The forecast for 2023 says that winter will soon arrive, with cooler temperatures descending from the Yukon and northern Alberta across the prairies and into southern Ontario and southwestern Quebec.
“In mid-to-late November 2022, icebox conditions will worsen as the season progresses. For example, in January, pasture temperatures will drop below seven degrees Celsius,” according to a press release from the Old Farmers Almanac. .

While the rest of Canada will experience normal or near-normal temperatures, that doesn’t mean those areas will be spared. Several severe snowstorms are expected in southern Quebec and Atlantic Canada, with the first likely to occur in November 2022.

I watch the weather closely, I’m in Missouri, so I can see the factors that will affect it. This is consistent with what I see in the middle of the country this winter. The complex summers we’ve had, ocean swings and solar weather effects have been adding to all of this for a long time.

In a way, with the cold and snow this year, it will be easier for us here than last year. Unfortunately, two of our guinea pigs died (of old age – they lived big, loving, ridiculously messy lives in a huge enclosure that took up almost half of the upstairs bedroom. C), and they were. An air leak has been detected. , which we will seal next week, between our bedroom and the attached garage. I think we’ll be warmer this year than last because we can make these changes, although we still plan to dismantle our faulty chimney and rebuild it as a batchbox/rmh hood. , we hope for next winter.
